Pioneers victorious again!
The Pioneers defeated Justice League of Altoona (JLA) 3-1 in this past Sunday's championship game for the Tyrone Roller Hockey League. For the forth year in a row, the Pioneers have claimed the prized championship cup. The Pioneers got on the board first with a goal Chad Murray in the first period. After a scoreless second period, JLA's Jeremiah Morris netted one at the beginning of the third period. The goal was assisted by Justin Terza. With a few minutes to play and the game tied 1-1, Ambrose Aquadro picked the ball out of the air with a quick slapper to put the Pioneers up by one. In the final seconds, when JLA pulled goalie Tyler McConnell, Brice Barrett scored uncontested for the Pioneers to seal the victory.
Also, before the championship game, we held our annual skills competition. Winners (pictured below) from the competition were Justin Cogley (Hardest Slap Shot - 89 mph), Jordan Cherry (break away challenge), Ambrose Aquadro (shot accuracy), Seth Barrett (overall skills competition champion), and Darian Brunner (fastest skater).
